Thank You!

I just literally got done typing a message to you all, and then firefox ate it. So here’s take two.

To everyone who came out to the show on Friday, thank you all so much. You guys are amazing and were a wonderful audience. Thanks to Jessi, my artistic partner in crime, for rockin’ the stage with me until almost 1am.

I’d also like to say thank you to Cassandra Wilcox and Peter Baldwin for agreeing to play Austin’s with us. If you didn’t get to come out for the show, make sure to check these two out because they seriously are incredibly talented performers.

Many thanks to Matt Lavoie and Justin Padua for joining us on stage to perform impromptu covers of Regina Spektor’s “Folding Chair” and Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back”. They ROCKED.

So pretty much, this is a message filled with thanks. Thank you all for being so great. Stay tuned as Artistic Simplistic is definitly playing more shows throughout the summer. :)

-e

PS: If anyone took any photos or video of any of the night’s performances, please let me know!

Song of the Moment: “Machine” by Regina Spektor

Fitting.

I have online homework due by midnight tonight (6/14), so I’ve been up working on it. I’m taking “Intro to Computers” because I obviously have no idea how to use one…

This is the last week of “intro”. The last day is next Sunday (6/21). And then on 6/23, I start ANOTHER online computer class and also a history class. My brother is taking history with me. It’s an 8am class. He just got his license. He’s driving to class, case closed. I’ll sleep.

hmf, I’ll finish these slideshows and essays in the morning.

This is a weird blog. My brain is dead.

I figured I’d post because a certain person (ahem) told me I should start writing on here again.

Hopefully finishing some of the tunes we have left for “New York” this upcoming week. Only two or three left to write! Just have to finish recording/post the other ones. :)

Okay, sleep is now I think…

“my eyes are bifocals…”

Thought I’d post this. It’s an almost completed version of “Decider”, the next track I’m working on for the NEW YORK project. The awesome Matt James plays piano on it and I arranged, recorded, performed everything else. Hoping to re-record some of my vocals and also have Jessi’s vocals tracked sometime this upcoming week. And maybe drums? We’ll see…

Anyways, It’s an original song for Sylvia K and the song is inspired by some of her drawings which you can see on her myspace (http://www.myspace.com/idontsunbathenaked). I also thought I’d try to write some of it in Italian, and Syl says my Italian is awesome :)

lyrics:

it’s been decided
the lines are drawn
colors are spilling out
colors are falling down

there’s nothing to catch them
nothing to bind them
because emily’s out, playing in the snow.

but there’s a lack of red
because vermillion’s known to lie
and green is just envious of that bitch.
so comes the decider with her pen and lists
choosing which lives to erase

set up the easel
get out the brushes
apra le porte
apra le porte

dip the bristles
flood the pages
vernici il mondo

look at the destruction
look at the injuries
an ensemble is tumbling out of a cesarean across the street

and emily’s still recurring
in all of my dreams
her heart is on the clothesline for all to see

but it ain’t the summer for this little girl
who bears on her body the stigmata
she seeks solace in the rabbit
that she’s known since she was small
but it’s been decided
it’s already been decided

set up the easel
get out the brushes
apra le porte
apra le porte

dip the bristles
flood the pages
vernici il mondo
sommerga il mondo
guarisca il mondo
sia il mondo
