Solo Album & Random Roadtrips

I’m overdue an actual blog post. So…

First things first. I’ve decided that I’m going to record a solo album of songs that I felt don’t fit in with the Artistic Simplistic scheme of things. These songs I’ve been writing are rocky, dancy, jazzy, and just overall a completely different sound from the band. I’m really excited to go into an actual studio to record these tracks. Recently I spoke to some friends who are amazing musicians (Joseph Egan, Peter Baldwin, Cassandra Wilcox, and a few others) about being guests on some of the tracks. I’m so excited about this and I can’t wait to see how it pans out! Be sure to follow my twitter (@egomania) for updates about the project, and maybe even some twitvids when I actually start recording.

Speaking of Joe Egan, I’m actually at his apartment in Tallahassee right now. I went to a vegan party last night with Justin, Audrey, and Winter (THE Winter whom I wrote “Winter is Coming” for) and we discussed roadtripping to Zoë Boekbinder’s Atlanta show in October.

Random aside: Everyone should buy Zoë Boekbinder’s new album, “Artichoke Perfume”. I just got done listening to it and it is pretty wonderful. You can order it from her website or download it from CDbaby. Current favorite song from the record is “Inexorably”.

Later on in the night Audrey remembered that she couldn’t go to Zoë’s show due to the fact that her family was coming into town the day after the show. The ATL trip was going to last an entire weekend, so it wouldn’t work out for her. Instead I promised her that I’d go to Tallahassee eventually with her to visit Joe… and then Audrey and I just decided to gather some belongings to leave at 3am for an immediate random road trip.

We surprised Joe big time this morning, jammed for a bit, he created some awesome bass lines for some of the new tunes, and then Audrey came down with Swine Flu (or a sickness of similar proportions) for a few hours. She’s all better now, thankfully.

So what to do tomorrow in Tally? May possibly record some demo tracks with Joe and said bass parts, and maybe even record/produce a few more of his songs. In case you didn’t know, I recorded Joe’s EP a few weeks ago in Justin’s living room. You should check it out. I sing back up vocals on the track “Up the Beanstalk”.

Hmm, I don’t really know what more to say. I’m kind of rusty on my blogging, so I guess it’s okay. And It’s also almost 3am, so I should sleep. Until next time, I bid adieu.
