This is the rough rough rough rough rough demo of “Sooner Than You Know”, a new jazzy kind of song I wrote the first week of September. I recorded a majority of it while in Tallahassee. Joseph Egan played Bass, Guitar (at the end of the recording), and Melodica. He is such an amazing musician.
I originally wasn’t going to release this because I was going to wait until I went and recorded a studio version, but I figured why not. I don’t care if you guys here incomplete versions of my work. The lyrics aren’t even done yet for the bridge/breakdown part. I improvised screaming “Baby” and other randomness during recording because Joe & I thought it’d be funny to make fun of some R&B stereotypes.
Lyrics
talked to you from seven to two but i didn’t know what to say
i don’t know why its hard to speak when you’re only a few states away
if i had the time and money, i’d fill up my car and go
wishing for no traffic on ninety-five so i could be there sooner than you know
you told me how your day went
and every word that you said just made me smile
reminisce about june time adventures up north
and how we hadn’t seen each other for a while
and you said “i’ll be there sooner than you know”
